Hello all and welcome to my first post. I guess you are probably wondering about the title, well I love country decor, americana, primitives, and the like, and I live in a rural retirement community in coastal North Carolina. It sure is hard to find much locally. We do have one shop in town, Parsons, that offers a lot of items, pictures, candles, and the like. I also like to go to estate sales, auctions, thrift stores and yard sailing. I like to look for things I can re-do or make-over to fit into my decor.
This spring I have started my own business, Bittersweet Country Junction, because I figure if I am having a hard time finding things locally, others must be also, so I started my own business. It is a home-based business for now with hopes in the future to open my own shop. I love being able to locate items to offer to the community. I am having an open house this Saturday. I have them once a month, and am planning on a busy fall/pre-holiday season. It's fun, but also a lot of work.
My husband and I have been married for 30 years. He is a paramedic/firefighter, and I am a medical secretary. We have two children, William is 23, and Delphia is 21. Delphia is a certified medical assistant and works at a local physician's office. William has a background in science and biotechnology, and has had a hard time finding a full-time job in this background. There has been a recent opening available that he has applied for today which I hope, good Lord willing, will pan out for him.
We also have a housefull of pets, two miniature poodles, and one standard poodle (BooBoo, Jasmine, and Paisley), and 5 cats (Boxer, B, Callie, Gracie and Lulu). All are rescues, except for Paisley. My husband said I couldn't have any more pets until he got his standard poodle, and so, I found him a standard poodle.
Gracie, one of our last acquired pets, was litterally picked up off of the road after being involved in an accident. I didn't see the accident happen, but I did come upon her in the middle of the road, still tumbling around. I pulled up in the wrong lane of traffic, scooped her up and took her straight to the vets office. She ended up losing her eye and her tail due to the accident. My dad says she has probably used up several of her nine lives already! She is a spunky little kitten!!
Well, enough for now.
Blessings,
Becki
